The parks two lakes offer many opportunities for freshwater fishing from either shore or from a small boat. Some fish found in the lakes include largemouth bass, crappy and sunfish. A valid Virginia freshwater fishing license is required to fish in the lakes.

Goodwin Lake Boat Ramp

Boating is allowed on both lakes and only paddles, oars and electric motors may be used. A public boat launch is available for each lake.

The Beach Concessions

The Beach Concessions/Snack Bar features premium, hand-dipped ice cream, fountain drinks and various hot food items. There are diner-themed tables and booths for patrons to sit, relax and enjoy their meals. There is also a small gift shop stocked with various sundries, snacks, candy, mementos, camping supplies, fishing tackle, swim gear, games, books and clothes. Visitors wishing to use the lake, the beach or watercraft do so here. The facility also offers restrooms and private shower stalls.

"The Wildlife Management areas are managed by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. What you heard is incorrect. Here is info about the change: Facility Use Permit Effective January 1, 2012, a Facility Use Permit will be required when using any Department-owned Wildlife Management Area or Fishing Lake. Such permit shall not be required for any person holding a valid hunting, fishing or trapping license or a current certificate of boat registration issued by the Department or persons…"

"I was there too with my sister and one of her friends from work. It was a great day. We walked the trail and the hills were quite intense. But we all finished an it was really fun for the first one. "
