Poorhouse Run
Named after what was once called the "Poorhouse" erected around 1811 and torn down possibly as late as the 1960s. The Poorhouse was once located on park property as a home for the destitute. While a home in today's modern time with this name may not be considered politically correct; the Poorhouse and it's denizens are of historical significance to this area and the trail name pays tribute to it's past less fortunate residents. This trail runs in proximity to where it is thought that the Poorhouse was located. Poorhouse Run allows walk-in access from the south east boundary of the park north of Woodpecker Rd. There is no parking available at the trail head. The 1.33 mile trail parallels Woodpecker Rd. it's western terminus is at Roper Forest Trail. Do not ride on trails 24 hours for each inch of rain.
