Guided hikes, fishing clinics, canoe programs (fee), beach bonfire programs, waterfront activities, hayride (fee); weekly birding programs in the fall.Kiptopeke is a perfect place to bring students to learn about the Chesapeake Bay. The park features Virginias State Parks: Your Backyard Classrooms, a 40-activity curriculum guide for use by teachers of grades K-12. More information is available by calling the park. Fall bird-banding tours are available by appointment. Please call the park office for scheduling: (757) 331-2267.

Twin Lakes State Park Hosts Lecture Series for Black History Month Zoe Rogers, Visitor Services Specialist On Saturday, February 11, 2012 Twin Lakes State Park will host a lecture series on the African-American Civilian Conservation Corps and African-American soldiers during the American Civil War.	Project WET for Teachers Sarah Lankford Virginia State Parks and Project WET offering Professional Development Workshop for Teachers. The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at James River State Park's Visitor Center from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Join the Friends of Shenandoah River State Park Jaimie Lomasney, Visitor Services Specialist Become a member of the Friends of Shenandoah River State Park. Attend the next meeting on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. with a winter walk at Shenandoah River State Park with the group. "The Wildlife Management areas are managed by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. What you heard is incorrect. Here is info about the change: Facility Use Permit Effective January 1, 2012, a Facility Use Permit will be required when using any Department-owned Wildlife Management Area or Fishing Lake. Such permit shall not be required for any person holding a valid hunting, fishing or trapping license or a current certificate of boat registration issued by the Department or persons…"
