With two long coasts in False Cape there are many opportunities for both salt and freshwater fishing. Visitors wishing to fish must have a saltwater fishing license to fish in the ocean and can fish right from the shore. Those wishing to fish in the bay must have a freshwater fishing and can use the many small docks and other open areas adjacent to the bay. Because of the bays salt content many saltwater fishes may be caught there, despite its being labeled as a freshwater body. Some things one might catch include flounder, spot, croaker, red drum, skates, and blue crabs. While fishing in the ocean you might see a school of bottlenose dolphins, humpback whales or maybe even a sea turtle depending of the time of year. Remember that these animals are not to be fed, caught or otherwise disturbed.
