Picnicking at Bear Creek Lake State Park

The park has picnic areas on either side of the beach area. On the side closer to the parking lot there is a picnic shelter. On the other side of the beach there is a playground. There is also a picnic shelter near campground A which is utilized for park programs. Both picnic shelters are wood roofed. The shelter at the beach is available for reservation through the Virginia State Parks Reservation Center and 40 people are allowed with the reservation. Restrooms are located nearby the shelter at the beach.A concession stand featuring a wide range of sandwiches, snacks and drinks, is available from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday - Thursday and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Fridays, weekends & holidays, Memorial Day through Labor Day.If you are planning a cookout during the spring, please keep in mind that the annual burn ban is in effect from midnight to 4 p.m. Feb. 15 to April 30. Outdoor cooking with charcoal is only allowed after 4pm.
