The New River needs you, it really needs you!

If you missed it, it is not too late. You will have another opportunity to help with a New River Clean-up on Wednesday, August 27, 2014.

The first 2014 New River Trail Clean-up was a community effort. New River Trail State Park staff in conjunction with Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and National Committee for the New River, held the clean-up on Saturday, August 16, 2014. Staff along with eight volunteers gathered to tackle the litter problem in the New River. They were able to make a huge dent in the debris. The group concentrated on the area around the Ivanhoe Bridge where they pulled 115-120 tires, part of a boat, chairs, propane tanks, and even a washing machine tub from the water.

But there's more work to be done and the New River needs you, it really needs you!

It is worth all the effort to know you have help make a difference

The August 27, 2014, clean-up will focus on the stretch of river near Fries Junction section of the trail. Anyone interested in helping with this clean-up should call the New River Trail State Park office at Foster Falls (276) 699-6778, we need you too!
