Get Crafty with Nature at First Landing State Park
Intently focused on the pile of leaves and twigs she collected on the trails, a budding young artist works intently to re-arrange the materials into a rabbit, a frog, and finally a framed forest scene. As she approached the craft table to glue her materials to the page, she added one finishing touch...a nub of knotted wood for the rabbit tail.
Nature Crafts is a fun creative program for kids of all ages
The Nature Crafts program at First Landing State Park builds on the idea of upcycling--turning found materials, litter, and cast-offs into something new. At First Landing's program, kids can "find nature" and turn it into wonderful works of art all while being immersed in the outdoors. Offered every Tuesday at 12 noon throughout the summer, the program is free and meets over at the First Landing State Park Trail Center.
Day-use parking fees do apply. Parking is only $4 on weekdays; $5 on weekends. All programs are also open to overnight camping and cabin guests.

During the school year, First Landing State Park and other Virginia State Parks offer field trips and in-class nature and history programs. Contact your nearby state park and ask for the Park Interpreter/Education staff to get information about current summer programs and school field trips/outreach for the Fall.
