In 1989 hair was very big and the "Mullet" was still around, clothes were awful and disco was “Staying Alive”, at least in my very small town that was a little behind the times! The internet was a word not yet used in everyday conversation. The first Bush was the President of the United States, Wilder was elected the Governor of Virginia, gasoline was $1.12 per gallon; and, most importantly..... the opening of Leesylvania State Park!
Music at the Marina
Join us on June 28, 2014 as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Leesylvania State Park's official opening. There will be a ceremony with cake cutting followed by Anthony James Band and fireworks. Look forward to seeing you at the festivities which begin at 6 p.m.
Sailboats at The Breakwater Marina
Please make plans to stay for Music at the Marina, the first in the summer concert series.
The Anthony James Band
The Anthony James Band will perform rock, blues and even play their own original music. I wonder if the band knows Another Day in Paradise or the Wind Beneath my Wings? Maybe I will get a chance to “Bust a Move!” The evening will end with a fireworks display over the Potomac River! The fun starts at 6:00 p.m. at the Marina with the band starting at 7:00 p.m.
Guests listening to music on the lawn
Bring a blanket and a picnic basket (no alcoholic beverages please) and enjoy great music and an evening of family fun all in the beautiful park setting by the Potomac River.
Mark your calendars for the other concerts too, July 26th and August 23rd! Those concerts will start at 7:00 p.m.
Sponsor's for the event and Music at the Marina are Steve’s Auto Repair and the Friends of Leesylvania State Park.
Fireworks over the Potomac River
Don't forget to check out the other great things happening at the park that weekend on June 27th, a Picnic and a Movie and on June 29th, the Totally Retro Run!
All Anniversary and Music by the Marina festivities are free, there is a $5 parking fee.
