Internship Opportunities Abound!
Virginia State Parks will have a booth at Old Dominion University's Internship Fair
Save the Date: Rescheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2014 12 noon to 3 p.m.
As an Old Dominion University graduate and Adjunct Faculty as well as 8-year veteran of Virginia State Parks, I have a special affinity for trying to connect students with Virginia State Parks. On Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, I will have a Virginia State Parks booth set up at Old Dominion University's Internship Fair at Webb Center from noon to 3 p.m. You don't have to be a student to stop by the internship fair!
Summer 2013 marketing interns gathered at Bear Creek Lake State Park
to give their final presentations.
Virginia State Parks has a variety of internships--from conservation interns to marketing interns and from ranger interns to educational interns. With 36 parks across the state needing to fill a variety of internship positions, many students can find summer internships close to home and related to their major or career path.
Internships are an important part of exploring possible career paths. Internships give students an opportunity to adapt the educational theory of their chosen major to real world applications. For instance, my marketing intern last year was able to take the information from his Advertising and Marketing courses at VCU and apply those theories to create interesting and dynamic focused advertising for Virginia State Parks.
Cameron Lipscomb started as an intern and is now Chief Ranger at Powhatan State Park!
(he has been promoted since the picture above)
I will also have information about Youth Conservation Corps supervisor positions and summer jobs! So be sure to stop by the Internship Fair at Old Dominion University's Webb Center and look for the Virginia State Parks booth!
If you can't make it to the internship fair, email me your resume, position interests, college major, and desired internship location and I'll forward your information to the right person in Virginia State Parks. Email me here!
