Virginia State Parks

What's Fall got to do with it?

EVERYTHING

This is one of those times when I have to say "It's better to be an hour early than one minute late!" Why? The leaves wait for no man. There is no place like Virginia in the Fall, and with 35 Virginia State Parks, you have the opportunity to see the leaves do their thing from the Cumberland Gap to the Atlantic Ocean!

MAGNIFICENCE

Fall brings us enthusiasm, it invigorates us at the end of long weary year. There is a comfort in knowing that all things come to an end, and the change of seasons revives us, as we know there is something new just around the corner.

INSPIRING

The foliage has been losing its freshness through the month of August, and here and there a yellow leaf shows itself like the first gray hair amidst the locks of a beauty who has seen one season too many.  ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
~George Cooper

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.  ~George Eliot

No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace
As I have seen in one autumnal face.
~John Donne

October's poplars are flaming torches lighting the way to winter.  ~Nova Bair

Autumn mornings: sunshine and crisp air, birds and calmness, year's end and day's beginnings. ~Terri Guillemets

Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn.  ~Elizabeth Lawrence
