Can You Canoe?

Never been in a canoe before? Interested in learning how to canoe? We have a program for you!

Canoe at Holliday Lake State Park

Here at Holliday Lake State Park, we are offering a Canoeing 101 program on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. You can find all the details here. There is a $6.00 fee.

This program is designed for someone new to the canoe or someone who is just interested in learning more about navigating flat water is these vessels. We'll provide all the necessary equipment and canoes.

If you've always wanted to attend one of our Owl Call Canoe Tours, but aren't very comfortable in a canoe, this program will give you more confidence. Then nothing will stop you from enjoying the views from our beautiful lake!

Come out and enjoy beautiful Holliday Lake 

Our park interpreters are great at weaving everything into each program. You'll learn more than just canoeing, you'll learn about the history of the park, animals that live nearby, camping, swimming, fishing, and all kinds of other activities here at the park.

Advance registration by calling the park is required by 12:00 noon the day before this program and we'll all meet at the Boat House around 9:00 a.m. Phone: (434) 248-6308

The park is located via State Route 24 between Appomattox and U.S. 60 and from Routes 626, 640 and 692. Approximately 12 miles from the Appomattox Courthouse National Historical Park.

Drive Time: Northern Virginia, three and a half hours; Richmond, two hours; Tidewater/Norfolk/Virginia Beach, four hours; Roanoke, two hours.
