Virginia State Parks has lots of options for swimming from the Chesapeake Bay at First Landing State Park to a mountain lake at Hungry Mother State Park near Marion Virginia.

Beaches are open Memorial Day to Labor day, and there is a small fee to use the beach which pays for the lifeguards and beach maintenance.
