Virginia State Parks

Starring: Night Owls on the Prowl

Submitted by Cameron Swain, Asst. Manager, False Cape State Park

Now is your chance to meet live owls and learn more about the night sky!!

On September 17, meet Park staff at Little Island City Park and travel through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge on our open air trams.  Once you arrive in the heart of False Cape State Park, you will meet several live owls and learn about their habits and characteristics.

Dress appropriately for the weather!

From there, enjoy the night sky as Park Rangers point out prominent constellations that you can see against the dark sky without the light pollution from the city.

A similiar owl program was held at Sky Meadows State Park!

The tram will meet you at Little Island City Park in Sandbridge. Reservations are require. Please call (757) 426-7128 to sign up. Cost is $10/person.  The program will last from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.  For additional park program information and schedules, click here.

From Interstate 64, exit on to Indian River Road East. Go 13 miles, then turn left onto Newbridge Road, then right onto Sandbridge Road. Next, turn right onto Sandpiper Road to Little Island City Park.
