The new Trail Center at First Landing State Park is under construction. As a LEED-certified "green" building, recycling of any useable materials from the old building was a priority.
Since the demo phase of the project has been completed, work crews have placed support beams, placed ceiling joists, and framed the walls.
Just last week, the Trail Center had its first visitor--a small screech owl that has been hiding in the roof eaves.
The Trail Center is slated to be open to the public in Spring 2011.
