Thanks to a Memorandum of Understanding with the Town of Farmville, High Bridge Trail State Park opens four more miles on Saturday, July 3rd. The Town completed the trail surface work in a more time and cost efficient manner than had we contracted the work. The Town of Farmville and Longwood University have been staunch supporters of this rail to trail project since its inception and donation of the rail bed by Norfolk Southern.
The new section is from Rice to High Bridge and the only access is from Rice. Parking is available where the trail crosses Rice's Depot Road. High Bridge Trail now has 24 miles of trail open but is still split by the High Bridge. Work to renovate the bridge will begin soon.
