2010 Steam and Gas Engine Farm Festival

Don’t miss this year’s Steam & Gas Engine Farm Festival June 5 & 6 at Chippokes Farm & Forestry Museum 868 Plantation Road, Surry VA 23883 (inside Chippokes Plantation State Park). Click here for a Google map.

This year we have added an RC Flight Control Center with 3 scheduled amazing air shows.  Watch electric and gas airplanes hover, dive and soar.   In addition to the model trains running through the gardens and exhibit building there will be a free trackless train ride for children and adults around the pastures.

A free petting zoo will also be available for everyone’s enjoyment along with many craft and farm demonstrations.  Scheduled demonstrations include the running of the 1935 saw mill, the old peanut picker and hay bailer as well as mule team pulls.

Great entertainment will be live on stage all weekend.

Special for the kids Saturday morning will start off with a reader’s theater at 9:30.

The rest of the entertainment schedule is as follows: The Delivers 11:30 a.m., Brother Lucy Band 1 p.m., Jim Smith & the Tribute to Memphis (special Elvis appearance) 3 p.m., Julius Pittman & the Revival Band 4:30 p.m.,  with the headline band, the well know HIGHWAY 101 Band 6:30-8 p.m.

Sunday begins with Worship Service at 9 a.m. immediately followed by one of the top gospel bands in the country Logos the Gospel Band 10:00-11:30 a.m., then Johnny St Clair 1 p.m., The Blues Empact Band 2:30 p.m. and finally The Hackensaw Boys 4:30-6 p.m. which will be the background for our good old fashion Ice Cream Sunday Social.

There are loads to see and do for the whole family--  farm & garden tractor pulls, kids peddle tractor pulls, classic cars & trucks, steam and gas engines and equipment, pony rides, carriage rides, try your hand at the dunking booth or visit the Son of the Confederate re-enactors. Vote for your favorite antique car, truck and tractor (trophies are given to the winners) Student Art show, arts & crafts and so much more.

The festivities start at 9am on Saturday and Sunday (gate opens at 8) closing on Saturday at 8 and closing Sunday at 6.
