Planning a trip to your local State Park? If so, be sure to pick up the newest copy of the Park Visitor Welcome Kit. These fun and informative kits are filled with park information, outdoor tips, recreation ideas, and a map of the State marking each of Virginia State Park's locations. Not to mention the various environmentally conscious advertisers that provide great deals and contests that benefit both park visitors and our park system.
Another great section of the Welcome Kit is the "Ranger Recommendations" that highlights their suggestions for the best parks for certain activities.
One of the great contests this year is Odwalla's Plant a Tree program that allows people across America to vote for the State they would like to see receive free trees donated by Odwalla. This is the third year Odwalla has run this program and they have doubled their donation from last year, raising the total donation amount to $200,000.
The kits are created at no cost to Virginia State Parks or taxpayers. Funding is generously provided by its partners and 20% of the net proceeds are donated to your state parks.
If you haven't already made your reservations you can call our Reservation Center at 1-800-933-7275 (PARK) M-F 9-5 or visit us online at www.virginiastateparks.gov.
