Friends of Holliday Lake State Park Hold Organizational Meeting

The Friends of Holliday Lake State Park will hold its second of two organizational meetings in starting a Friends group on April 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Lake 4-H Center.  Citizen Support Organizations (CSO) also known as Friends Groups, are essentially a group of volunteers that have a special interest in supporting projects and programs for the park. These groups organize special events; raise money, schedule workdays and partner with local businesses. They also advocate on behalf of the park. Friends Groups are a valued resource to state parks and are particularly important during hard economic times.

A temporary President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer were appointed to develop the governing tools for the group and they will lead this meeting. Chief Ranger of Holliday Lake, Alison Weddle, knows the importance of a group of volunteers of this type, "having a friends group is a huge asset to state parks and we look forward to working with this citizen support organization for years to come.”

The Holiday Lake 4-H Center is located on 1267 4-H Camp Road in Appomattox.  Please contact the park office for more information at 434-248-6308.
