As I kid I was never a very successful kite flyer but boy did I have some fun trying! Those experiences are still some of my most memorable fun days. Today I look at some of the kites on the market and am just itching to get back out there on a nice windy day. How many kids still experience that special tug as the wind catches the kite and pulls it into the air?
You can create a memorable family experience by visiting Westmoreland State Park on Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 10 a.m. to noon for their annual Kite Flying Workshop. Bring your own kite or purchase one at the park for $8.
The park's majestic cliffs are a great backdrop for the event and you may spot an eagle or two while watching your kite soar in the breeze. Please call the park at (804) 493-8821 to sign up for this event before March 28. There is no charge (other than our standard per car parking fee of $4 and park entrance is always free with our annual or lifetime passes).
