Spring storms at Mason Neck

Working at Mason Neck State Park can be dramatic even on rainy, gloomy days.  Check out this shot of Belmont Bay I took from the park office yesterday.  When storms approach, they often come from the southwest and roll up the bay toward us. It's fascinating to see.  Nature is not always gentle, but it's always interesting!  And of course, even torrential rain showers bring us lovely spring flowers.  Spring Beauties, Cutleaf Toothwort and other early lovelies come into blossom this time of year. See this blog post to whet your appetite.  Come visit us here at Mason Neck soon!Songbirds snatch some food before the rain hits.
